Envelope By Dexter Cockburn - Mar 2011

Check out this totally kickass bitchin' awesome envelope Dexter Cockburn sent me. And as if the front wasn't badass enough, there's more on the back! (Now I just gotta find out who Michael Rennie is... Hm!) Dexter, you rock so much the speakers just exploded.
Inside this wonderful package was a bunch of cool comix:
- Monty Comix #1-3 by Kayla Escobedo (you will see her fearsome great art on the cover of Blackguard #4);
- Romp #1-2 by Aaron Lange;
- plus! Cornhole Laff Parade and Oh My! Comix #1-2 by Dexter Cockburn.
Reviews of these here soon!

Michael Rennie
It's a scene from "The Day The Earth Stood Still." The actual words are "Klaatu barada nikto" and if I remember correctly they're used to activate the robot standing to the right there. These words were also used in "Army of Darkness" in one of my favorite comedy scenes ever!

Re: Michael Rennie
Aha! Thanks man. That movie I only finally got around to seeing last year. And it was cool to find out where the name Klaatu came from, since I remember when I was a kid my father had a record album by a band called Klaatu. The cover was real spacey too, I think.
And you've activated me to re-watch Army of Darkness this weekend! (I was drunk when I saw it the first time, you know what that means memory-wise...)

You may be wondering why there's comix for BG4 in Oh My! 2... Then again, you may not. It's because OMC was originally designed as a showcase for my work in other comix, but then I thought it'd be cool to turn it into an anthology. And once that ball started rolling... ;)
Great news: Underground Comix legend Skip Williamson might be contributing to Oh My! 3 - here's hoping!!!

Aha! I was about to launch an investigation into this very matter, now I have the answer. Thanks for saving me the costs of a private detective agency! Seriously though, it's totally cool with me.
And wonderful to hear about Skip Williamson appearing in your next issue. I've got my fingers and eyes crossed for you!

The sung "Calling Occupants..." before the Carpenters!

Re: Michael Rennie
What! Was that by Klaatu?! I've always thought it was a Carpenters original.

Re: Michael Rennie
Klaatu released it in 1976 & the Carpenters covered it in '77 (probably to cash in on the Close Encounters craze).
